Free and cheap things to do in October Half Term
I’m sure I’m not the only parent saying this but this year is flying! And the kids will soon be off for October Half Term, meaning you’re going to want to keep them occupied so you don’t have to listen to the phrase, “I’m bored…”. Entertaining them for a week is hard at the best of times, but especially if you want to do it without breaking the bank.
I’ve rounded up the best deals and free events so you can entertain the kids on a budget, whilst still bonding as a family, this October Half Term.
Kids eat free
Half Terms are EXPENSIVE! But the good news is, there are lots of places where you can take the kids and they’ll eat for free (or extremely low cost). Here’s a list for you to screen shot!
Asda
The best one in my opinion as kids eat for £1 all day with no adult spend required.
Morrisons
Spend £5 on the hot menu and get one free kids meal every day during Half Term.
Frankie and Benny’s
Kids eat free with any adult meal between 21st October - 1st November.
Sainsburys cafe
Kids eat for £1 with the purchase of one adult main meal - from 11.30am daily.
Beefeater
Two kids get a free breakfast every day with one paying adult - it’s all you can eat so fill them up for the day!
Sizzling Pubs
Every Monday-Friday between 3-7pm, kids mains are £1 with every adult meal.
Pizza Hut
Free kids buffet from 14th October - 5th November daily until 3pm with code SPOOKY
IKEA
Kids can eat from 95p every day from 11am! Plus they have free activities for kids in store too
Hungry Horse
Kids eat for £1 on Mondays with an adult meal
Bills
Two kids eat for free all day on a Monday - Friday with a paying adult. This applies to breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Half price bowling
How expensive has bowling gotten these days?
Well the good news is, I’ve gotten you a discount code to get 50% off bowling during the Half Term.
This deal is at Hollywood Bowl and to be eligible you’ll need to book your game before 11am.
Use code SPOOKY50 at the checkout to wipe half the cost off your bill when booking online.
Free Lego fun day
During Half Term, Smyths is offering a FREE Lego toy event, in stores, on Saturday 26th October. They’re doing a LEGO® Mini Giveaway across all stores so make sure you get there from 9am as I’m confident the stock will go fast!
They are limiting the giveaway to one per person. It’s while stocks last and on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s suitable for children aged five and above.
Free IKEA craft workshops
IKEA runs these FREE events throughout the year and during Half Term the theme is Enchanted Forest and Woodlands craft sessions which look really fun!
The kids can get stuck in with the crafting totally free of charge and whilst you’re there you can have a nosey around Ikea.
Some require bookings and there are some age restrictions.
But whilst you're there, kids can eat for less than £1. Little ones can enjoy things like mac & cheese, soft drink and a piece of fruit for 95p or any other kids meal for £1.50.
TOP TIP! Don’t forget you don’t have to spend a fortune this Half Term to give the kids an amazing time. There are loads of free activities you can do at home together.
Free Pets at Home Halloween workshops
Pets at Home is hosting some FREE Halloween workshops over Half Term where your little ones can turn up for a 45 minute session where they can get involved in some fun Halloween activities as well as getting to meet and learn all about the animals in store.
Spaces for this are limited and you will need to book a space via their website which is linked here.
Hobbycraft workshops
Hobbycraft has got a whole range of workshops available this Half Term, including some Halloween-themed activities for the kids.
These sessions aren’t free, but they do currently have 20% off, meaning you can get some sessions booked for less than £10!
Workshops include slime making and Halloween crafts. Places are limited so make sure you get them booked online ASAP to avoid disappointment.
Cheap getaways under £100
You can’t beat a caravan holiday at this time of year and if you’re looking for an Autumn getaway, Parkdean is offering value breaks this Half Term, where you can book a long weekend away for less than £100.
This is hundreds (if not thousands!) of pounds cheaper than Center Parcs and, in my experience, Parkdean sites have always been lovely. They have them all over the country so have a browse here and see if you can get yourself a cheap break booked in this half term.
