Where can kids eat free (or really cheap!) during the summer holidays
School’s almost out for the summer holidays and if your kids are anything like mine, they’re ALWAYS hungry! But there’s only so far your budget can stretch and the holidays can get expensive fast, especially when you’re trying to keep the kids entertained and fed on the go.
Luckily, loads of restaurants and cafés across the UK are offering kids eat free or have low-cost meal deals this summer – and I’ve rounded up the best of them for you. Whether you're heading out for a day trip or just fancy a cheeky lunch out, these spots make lunchtime a bit more affordable.
Here’s where kids can eat free or cheap this May Half Term…
Restaurants where kids eat free or cheap
Frankie and Benny’s - kids get a main, 2 sides, a drink, and a dessert for free everyday until the 31st August when adults buy a main meal.
Bills - every weekday between 21st July and 29th September up to two children can eat a meal for free all day with every adult main dish.
Yo! Sushi - during your local school holiday dates kids can eat free all day when dining with a full-paying adult. Minimum £10 spend, and the child must be under the age of 10.
TGIs - kids eat free everyday when you order an adults main meal over the summer holidays if you are a Stripes Rewards member. Just join via their app and you can get a free kids meal! There is also free Heinz baby food too!
Bella Italia - kids eat free all day every Thursday at Bella Italia and for £1 until 6pm from Sunday to Wednesday when an adult buys a main meal. This includes 3 courses and a drink.
Brewers Fayre and Beefeater - kids under 16 can get a buffet breakfast for free when adults purchase a breakfast worth £10.99.The Real Greek - kids eat free on Sundays for every £15 spent by an adult. This includes a meal and dessert for kids under 12.
Hungry Horse - kids eat for £1 with every paying adult on a Monday
2. Cafes
Morrison’s Cafe- children aged 16 and below can get one free meal with every adult meal worth £4.50 or over.
Dunelm - kids can get a mini main, 2 snacks and a drink for free as long as an accompanying adult spends £4 or more.
Tesco - kids eat free with the kids pick and mix lunch deal when an adult buys any item in the cafe (can just be a drink!). It includes a sandwich, a piece of fruit, two snacks and a drink.
IKEA - kids can enjoy selected menu items for 95p!
Asda - kids can get a £1 meal deal all year round and you don’t have to buy anything for yourself to go with it!
3. Hotels
Travelodge - if you happen to be staying in a Travelodge over the summer holidays, kids aged 15 and under eat for £1 and can choose as much as they like from the cooked selection. Up to two kids can eat free for every full paying adult.
Premier Inn - when adults order a full Premier Inn breakfast or meal deal, up to two under 16s can eat breakfast for free.
Holiday Inn - kids eat free all day including a main course and dessert when an adult orders one course from the full priced menu.
Quick tip
You can ease the pressure of food shopping in the summer holidays by using the Too Good To Go app. We’ve used it before and its basically a free app that lets you buy bags of surplus food from supermarkets, cafes and restaurants with 70% off the usual price! Some prices start at £2 and they often really fill the bags up!
