8 ways to save money on your baby shower
Baby showers are such a lovely way to celebrate with everyone before your newborn arrives but they can also get very expensive if you’re not careful. Between decorations, food, games and gifts, the costs add up fast.
The good news is, you don’t need to spend a fortune to have a memorable baby shower! Here are 8 money-saving tips that helped me have a great time without breaking the bank!
Set a realistic budget first - before you even buy a balloon, decide how much you’re willing to spend so you avoid those last-minute splurges. And remember: the purpose of the day is celebrating your baby not impressing anyone with fancy extras!
Use an Amazon baby wish list - you can share it with guests and it gives them the chance to buy exactly what you need - often with discounts and free gifts. It also means you save money by not having to buy those essentials yourself later!
Keep it home-based - booking a hall or restaurant can be pricey! Hosting at home or in the garden instantly saves costs and once you’ve put up some fairy lights it will feel just as special! One of mine was in lock-down so we did it over video call!
DIY your decs! Do some home-made bunting or print off little signs instead of buying them. I would also say if you’re wanting balloons get one of these DIY balloon arches as some places charge tonnes for them!
Skip the fancy invitations! Free digital invites via WhatsApp or Facebook work just as well and it means you wont have people double texting you to check the date of the party as they can’t lose a digital invite.
Go simple with the games and use free printable ones from online!
Keep your guest list intimate - it’s tempting to invite everyone you know, but the more people, the higher the cost for food, drinks, and space.
Bake instead of buying! Occassion cakes can end up costing loads from a bakery or private cake maker so go for a simple supermarket cake or bake one if you enjoy baking!
Go cardless - a lovely little touch I had at my baby shower was instead of everybody buying me a card, they bought me a book and wrote a message in the front. I still read them to the kids now and it’s so nice to look back on their messages!
Overall, remember your baby shower doesn’t need to look like something straight out of Pinterest to be meaningful! With a few savvy swaps and clever planning you can celebrate your little one without stressing about money!
