Eurocamp Review: La Baume

Welcome back to my Eurocamp review series!

First of all, if you don’t know much about Eurocamp yet, let me fill you in…

Eurocamp has lots of parcs across Europe, including France, Spain, Italy, Holland and more. No matter what type of holiday you are looking for, there is a campsite for you! We absolutely love them and if you haven’t already seen my Ultimate Guide to a Eurocamp holiday blog, it’s got everything you’ll need to know about booking a Eurocamp holiday.

But for now, here’s the lowdown on La Baume Eurocamp, a really lovely site just outside Nice in the South of France which we stayed at as part of a £9.50 Sun holiday (which I am a big fan of!) in May 2024. We had four nights here for a total of £38 (not including flights and other costs such as additional taxes and bedding(!)).

This park is jam-packed with things to do for the whole family no matter what type of holiday you’re after. We were spoilt for choice for things to do, but here’s my top picks:

  • Water-park heaven! There are three outdoor pools, one of which is heated, a variety of slides and water chutes and two indoor pools. There is also a toddler-friendly zone to splash about in safely

  • The location was perfect! Close to a gorgeous beach and is a great base for families wanting an active holiday exploring the local area but also perfect for those wanting a more relaxing break.

  • Perfect for families with children of all ages

We flew from Birmingham into Nice airport and hired a car which we booked at the airport and it cost us around £30 per day for four days. It’s under an hour’s journey from the airport. I spoke before about why I love having a car on holiday but if you’re a nervous driver or simply don’t want to drive whilst you’re on holiday, you could arrange  a private transfer from the airport to the Eurocamp.

The kitchen was fully equipped, large and spacious

The accommodation was decent quality for the money. We stayed in a Classic Mobile Home. Obviously if you’re expecting 5-star luxury then you’ll be disappointed but it was clean, spacious, had comfy beds and even though it was a bit outdated it was perfect for what we needed. The decking area was really spacious and really made the whole space feel bigger. We had a full kitchen so popped to Lidl to do a food shop which meant we didn’t have to eat out every day so saved lots of money there.

Something to bear in mind is that we were charged an extra £77 for bedding! But as we didn’t fancy bringing our duvets, we had to pay this.

  • Things we liked - it was a great base for us and had everything we needed

  • Things to be aware of - the fact bedding wasn’t included is another cost to factor in. In terms of checking out, you will either need to clean the accommodation yourself or pay an extra charge for cleaning too. We opted for self-cleaning which means we had to strip the beds, clean everywhere down and sweep and mop.

The pizzas were amazing!

There are two on-site restaurants and a snack bar. The pizzas were amazing and cost around €12 each. We paid under €50 for 3 pizzas, two portions of chips and four drinks. We ended up doing a food shop from the local Lidl so we didn’t need to eat on site all the time. We find this a much better use of money and you can always have leftovers for lunch the next day. I like to keep things simple when we’re away - no one needs to be slaving away over a hot stove! So I tend to do salads, pasta and quick oven meals.

  • Things we liked - we felt the snack bar was good quality and value for money and it was super easy to grab a quick meal. The homemade pizzas were a must!

  • Things to be aware of - Full kitchen available in the accommodation so you could eat in if you wanted but we felt the oven was quite slow!

I can’t lie, the pool complex at La Baume is incredible! La Baume is joined to another site called La Palmerie so you have access to both pool complexes. There are six pools in total; three outdoor pools (one is heated), a toddler pool and two indoor pools as well as an abundance of slides - the three-lane water slide was magnificent. The grounds are stunning too and the pools are surrounded by palm trees and lush plants, we definitely felt further away from home than France!

The one thing to be aware of is the rules around swimming attire for men. Much to Matt’s dismay, Speedos for men are mandatory and this was enforced by a lifeguard, which provided me with a giggle at Matt’s expense!

  • Things we liked - we loved that the pool area was big with a separate shallow, children’s pool, splash pad and slides. There were also lots of lifeguards on site which was reassuring.

  • Things to be aware of - Speedos are a must (you can buy some from the on site shop if you forget to bring your own). Getting a sun lounger proved to be impossible here unless you’re willing to join the morning race to get one!

Aside from all of the pools, there’s lots of other things going on at La Baume like volleyball, archery, table tennis and football if you like to be active whilst on holiday. If you’ve got older teenagers, this site would be great to give them some freedom to do their own thing, whilst still knowing they’re safe in the camp.

There’s even a large kids park and a kids club with free activities for children six days a week from May to September.

  • Things we liked - this was a large site so plenty of space to get outdoors and go for long walks or bike rides. The large on-site park was great, too.

  • Things to be aware of - some activities don’t run out of season.

If you didn't want to leave the site, you really don’t need to as the parc has everything you could possibly need during your stay. There’s an on-site minimarket, gift shop, laundry service, as well as a bar and restaurant.

You know I love doing laundry on holiday!

Wifi is available at the parc but it’s chargeable and was €8 per device per day. There’s also a wellness centre and bike hire available for €15 per day

  • Things we liked - if you didnt want to venture off-site it didnt matter as there was plenty to do. But as it was beautifully situated in the South of France, it meant easy access to beautiful beaches if you did want to venture out.

  • Things to be aware of - no on-site beach here.

The location of this site is stunning! There isn’t a beach on-site but the nearest is only a 15-minute drive away which wasn’t too bad.

We also took a trip out to Port Grimaud, which is known as the Little Venice of France. It was so pretty and, controversially, I thought it was nicer than Venice! Much cleaner and more relaxing! We hired a boat for half an hour which was €25.

Yes! There was plenty to do here and I loved the location as a base to explore. If we returned here I probably would have opted for a bit of a longer stay to get to explore the local area more! If you can get this on a Sun Holiday, snap it up!
