Christmas magic on a budget

Public Service Announcement!

Despite what the internet and consumerism will have you believe, you can create so much Christmas magic, whilst spending very little. Here’s a perfect example of how you can do this with some ideas for making budget-friendly Christmas stockings.

The festive memories kids will take from their childhood will be the magical little moments, not huge gestures. I’m talking remembering the sound of sleigh bells on Christmas Eve when they’re tucked up in bed or finding Santa’s footprints outside their door in the morning. Not how much you spent on the latest trending gadget!

Here are some other examples for how you can create the magic of Christmas without breaking the bank:

  • Gingerbread House Kit - This cookie cutter set can be re-used again and again to make magical Christmas memories at home

  • Decorate your own paper snowflakes - all you need is a piece of white paper! Get creative by cutting out some different shapes to make your own handmade decorations. There’s plenty of craft supplies here.

  • Reindeer need feeding too! Crunch up some cereal (cornflakes or something similar) and make sure you leave some food out for the reindeer, as well as Santa.

  • Santa’s stencil footprint - reusable as well!

  • Elf on the Shelf - Love him or hate him, the Elf on the Shelf is a firm fave in our house and I think its a great way to make Christmas magic without spending lots of money! The look on the kids’ faces when they wake up every morning and finding out what the Elf has been doing overnight is priceless (they’ll never have to know that you forgot to move the Elf and were frantically thinking up a creative idea at midnight!)

  • Send your letter to Santa - send one to the following address before 9th December :

Santa/Father Christmas
Santa's Grotto
