How it works
TopCashback is one of my favourite cashback platforms, and you can use it both through the app and online.
To get started, you can sign up to TopCashback here.
Once you're signed up, you can access cashback offers from over 5,500 retailers, covering everything from shopping and groceries to insurance, holidays, utilities and clothes.
It's really easy to use. You simply find the retailer you want to shop with, click through to their website and shop as normal. It tracks your purchase and, once the retailer confirms it, your cashback gets added to your account.
At the moment, you can also get a £10 sign-up bonus when you join and earn £10 in eligible cashback.
My experience
I often use TopCashback for larger purchases where the cashback can really add up. For example, I got a decent amount of cashback when I bought my laptop from Very. It's one of those things where you think, well, I was going to buy it anyway, so I may as well get some money back!
The downside is that the cashback doesn't usually come through straight away. It needs to track first and then be confirmed by the retailer, so I tend to think of TopCashback as a little savings pot building up in the background, rather than an instant discount.
For bigger purchases though, I think it's absolutely worth the extra couple of minutes to check.
Things to note
- Cashback can take a while to clear and the timescale varies depending on the retailer.
- Always check the cashback rate before you buy, as rates can change.
- Make sure you click through TopCashback before making your purchase so your transaction has the best chance of tracking.
- Some purchases, products or voucher codes may not qualify, so always check the retailer's terms.
- It's particularly good for bigger purchases where the cashback can really add up.
- You can withdraw your payable cashback rather than having to spend it as a gift card.
My verdict
For me, TopCashback is one of the best options for online shopping and bigger purchases.
It's free to join, really easy to use and there are thousands of retailers to choose from.
It's not the one I'd choose if I wanted instant cashback, but if you're happy to let the money build up in the background, it's a really easy way to get some money back on things you're already going to buy.
My biggest tip? Always remember to check before big purchases as you might be surprised at what's available.
