What to buy 4-6 year olds for Christmas

If you’ve got little ones aged 4-6 to buy for this Christmas, you’ll know how quickly the costs add up - especially when they seem to want everything! But you really don’t need to spend a fortune to make it magical. Here are some budget-friendly tried and tested ideas for Christmas gifts that the kids will actually love.

Under £5

  • A DIY idea: A great budget-friendly gift idea for kids is to make a big batch of handmade Play-Doh and bulk buy little cutters and stamps that you can split from a multi-pack. This gives you at least eight mini Christmas gifts. You can often get little jars and cookie cutters in charity shops too so keep an eye out for bits and bobs over the next few weeks.

  • Colouring books: You honestly can’t go wrong with colouring books for this age group. They’re great for quiet time, when travelling or keeping them busy when you want a minutes peace! We love this one and this one.

Under £10

These are brilliant middle-of-the-budget options that are still exciting for the kids:

  • Kids headphones - handy for quiet time. These are ours.

  • Kids game - Sequence - this is such a great game and Amazon have the ‘used but like new’ option making it even cheaper!

  • Kids writing tablet - this one is a real bargain

  • Science lab kit - fun and educational, my son loves this

Under £20

Some bigger gift ideas that are still budget friendly include:

  • Magnatiles - open-ended play that keeps them entertained for ages

Under £30

If you’re looking for something a little extra these are all fantastic quality gifts for under £30.

You really don’t need to spend a fortune to make Christmas special, at this age its all about fun, creativity, and giving something that will keep their imagination buzzing. Whether it’s a homemade Play-Doh kit, a cosy robe or a simple colouring book, these gifts are proof that thoughtful doesn’t have to mean expensive.

And remember - it’s not about the price tag, it’s about the smile on their little faces when they open something picked just for them.
