Top Yoto cards for educational fun at home
We’ve always loved our Yoto player for bedtime stories – there’s just something magical about winding down with a story at night. But recently, we’ve started using it more during the day, especially for home education... and honestly? Game changer.
As a home educating family, I’m always on the lookout for resources that feel fun but still spark curiosity. And these Yoto cards have done just that. They’ve opened up lovely conversations around the dinner table, helped my kids explore tricky science concepts in a way that actually sticks, and even sparked a new love of languages.
Whether you home educate or just want to make screen-free learning part of your day.
Here’s our faves…
Earth Explorers
The Earth Explorers pack is such a winner – it takes your child around the globe without leaving the house! With cards covering South America, Africa, Europe and more, it’s packed with fascinating facts about different countries, cultures, and traditions.
It’s one of those cards that gets played again and again, and each time, something new seems to stick. Great for geography, cultural awareness, and just general “wow, the world is so interesting!” moments.
2. BrainBots: Science Fair
Hands down my son’s favourite. The BrainBots team takes on all sorts of science topics, and they do it in such a fun and understandable way. This one covers:
Forces and Magnets
Light & Sound
Electricity
Plants
Earth and Space
Materials
Evolution
I’ve caught my 5-year-old explaining how circuits work to his sister after listening to this – it really helps them grasp those KS1 and KS2 science concepts without it feeling like schoolwork.
3. My First Words in French
This one surprised me with how effective it was! It switches between English and French, teaching basic vocabulary through stories. My daughter has picked up so many everyday words just from listening regularly – and the pronunciation is spot on. It’s a really gentle introduction to language learning, and she loves repeating the words back.
4. BrainBots: Our Planet
We’ve only had this one a few weeks and already my 5-year-old can tell me what a Richter scale is and how earthquakes form. If that’s not proof of learning through play, I don’t know what is! This pack covers:
Climates and seasons
Oceans
Earthquakes
The water cycle
Polar regions
Volcanoes
Rainforests
Hurricanes and tornadoes
It explains big concepts in a kid-friendly way – ideal for budding scientists and planet protectors

Why auditory learning works so well tips before you head out
If your child is a story lover, a music fan, or just learns best through listening, Yoto is such a powerful tool. Auditory learning can:
Improve memory and recall
Help with language development
Encourage imagination
Support kids who struggle with traditional learning styles
Make learning feel fun and less pressured
Plus, using audio removes the overwhelm that sometimes comes with worksheets and textbooks. It gives them space to learn on their own terms – whether they’re building Lego, drawing, or snuggled under a blanket.
What are your kids loving right now?
